Turning Workplace Water into Measurable ESG Strategy and Cost Impact

With one Amphore 30 and one Kaia Water Fountain deployed, Pluxee produced 1,282L of water on-site: avoiding 2,563 plastic bottles, 422 kg of CO₂, and 1,330 kg of logistics by reducing reliance bottled water.

Single-use plastic bottles had become a part of everyday office life at Pluxee. Despite clear sustainability ambitions, bottled water remained the default: easy to distribute, easy to consume, and difficult to replace at scale without disrupting employee habits.

Rather than approaching the issue as a simple CSR campaign, Pluxee looked for a solution that employees would naturally adopt in their daily routines; one that could reduce plastic dependency without adding friction to workplace operations. Through its exploration of green and deep-tech innovations, the company partnered with Kumulus to bring drinking water production directly on-site.

What followed was more than a sustainability initiative. By integrating Kumulus into the workplace, Pluxee transformed a recurring operational dependency into a measurable environmental and operational impact, reducing bottled-water reliance while supporting both ESG objectives and cost efficiency.

The Challenge of Plastic and Logistics

“Our employees used to go through tons of plastic bottles, which didn’t sit well with our CSR values.” - Mohamed Jemaa

Before Kumulus, drinking water at the Pluxee Tunisia office relied heavily on single-use plastic bottles. This created a visible buildup of plastic waste that conflicted with the company’s sustainability goals. It also generated recurring operational and logistics constraints: bottled water had to be purchased continuously, delivered regularly, stored on site, distributed across the office, and eventually collected and recycled after use. Over time, these recurring logistics added both operational complexity and financial cost.

Pluxee needed an alternative that could reduce plastic use in a practical and sustainable way: one that employees would trust in terms of water safety and quality, while remaining simple and convenient enough to integrate naturally into everyday workplace routines.

Integrating Kumulus into the Workspace

“We held awareness workshop to explain how the technology works and explain employees about water safety, which made it easier to get everyone on board.” - Mohamed Jemaa

Pluxee integrated Kumulus into its day-to-day workplace operations by deploying one Amphore 30 and one Kaia Water Fountain on-site. What started as a sustainability initiative quickly became a practical solution for reducing both plastic waste and bottled water logistics. By embedding Kumulus into everyday routines, Pluxee turned environmental goals into measurable, operational outcomes that also support financial targets.

‍

Measurable ESG Impact

Using Kumulus’ dashboard to measure it all, Pluxee was able to translate a workplace initiative into tracked, reportable outcomes.

Impact:

  • Water produced: 6,400 L
  • Plastic bottles (500 ml) avoided: 13,200
  • CO₂ avoided: 422 kg
  • Logistics avoided: 1,330 kg

Pluxee replaced thousands of bottles with on-site water access, reduced the emissions linked to bottled-water supply, and cut the transport and handling required to keep offices stocked. Measurable impact becomes simple to communicate internally, include in ESG updates, and track progress over time.

Why Kumulus Matters in Your Workplace?

Pluxee’s  experience shows that ESG progress is easier to sustain when it becomes part of everyday routines. With on-site water access, employees don’t need to “remember” to act sustainably. The workplace setup makes the better choice simple and automatic.

Kumulus offers a concrete way to combine environmental and employee benefits. It helps reduce single-use plastic, supports access to clean drinking water at work, and produces measurable results that are tangible.

Just as importantly, Kumulus solutions also support long-term financial performance. Beyond the cost of bottled water itself, companies must continuously manage procurement, deliveries, storage, internal distribution, and plastic waste collection, creating recurring operational costs that add up over time.

By producing drinking water directly on site, Kumulus helps reduce dependence on this supply chain while lowering repeat purchasing and logistics needs. Depending on workplace consumption and deployment scale, the return on investment (ROI) can typically be achieved within 1 to 3 years, even when accounting for electricity consumption.
